Parish and Community

Our Parish

We serve the parish of St Thomas More and are also twinned with the parish of St Josephs. The church of St Thomas More is a 20 minute walk from school and we enjoy strong parish links. Throughout the year, we gather as a parish and school family to celebrate the liturgical year with children contributing to the organisation of mass and liturgies. These are well attended by our families and school governors.

Mass times

St Thomas More – Sunday Mass at 9 a.m. and Holyday masses at 11am

St Joseph’s – Sunday: Saturday evening 6pm, Sunday 10.30am and Holy days: 7pm

All children and families are welcome at mass every week and we look forward to seeing you each Sunday.

Our parish priest, Father Dominique, is a regular visitor to school where he works with pupils and staff to enhance the teaching of the RE curriculum and he supports parents and catechists with sacramental preparation for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Our parish family are regularly invited to visit school to celebrate with us liturgies, mass and special feast days (This includes our patron saint’s feast day – 17th June)

See newsletters section for detailed information.

Sacramental Preparation

Our children begin preparing for to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion Programme in the Spring Term.

This is a very exciting and special time for the children and their families.

The children are well supported by their catechists, Mrs Brown, Mrs Appleby and Mrs Goodrum who work alongside them using ‘Making things Right’ to support them with their faith journey for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and ‘Called to His Supper’ to support their journey toward First Holy Communion.

Preparation classes take place in school every Tuesday at 3.20pm.

Parents are invited to an initial meeting and further meetings, in school with Father. Dominique to enable them to support their children as they journey in faith.

We are very grateful for the ongoing support we receive from Father Dominique and our parish catechists during sacramental preparation time and throughout the year.

This year children in school will receive the:

Sacrament of Reconciliation on Thursday 11th April at 6pm

First Holy Communion on Saturday 15th June at 10am

Both services will be held at St Thomas More church.
